The Proposal

Paul and I met in high school but didn’t start dating until our early twenties. In January of 2010, James looked at me and mentioned that we hadn’t been to Fuji’s (our favorite Sushi restaurant) in quite some time.  We made plans to go there that following week, on a Thursday night.

Thursday night came and I was excited to go out on the town with Paul. After we got in and were enjoying our meal, I noticed that Paul was acting strangely. He was looking all around the room nervously and fidgeting quite a bit. Being preoccupied with perfecting my pout, I was casually asking Paul a question, when I sat upright in my seat again. Plain as day, there was a little white box set in from of me on the table. I paused like a deer in the headlights.

Paul looked over at me and said, “I’ve known for a long time that I was going to marry you.” And when I opened the box, inside was the most beautiful, perfect diamond ring that I had ever seen!  I quickly choked out the word “Yes” before he really got to ask me the question! What made this night more special is that Fuji was the place of our first date and the ring had once belonged to his grandmother…
